All Details about New National Education Policy 2020.

National education policy is released on July 29. But This policy is passed after a 34-year gap under the Modi government. Because It is meant to provide an overarching vision and comprehensive framework. For both like school and higher education across the country. NEP is a board that guides the development of education in India.

Aim of National Education Policy.

Union Cabinet has approved the national education policy. And Its aim is to introduce many changes in the Indian education system. Right from the beginning.

  • Making “India a Global Knowledge Superpower.”
  • The cabinet is the third major framework of education.
  • To increase quality, research, innovation in education.
  • Making Board exams easy.
  • Reduction of the curriculum to core concepts.
  • No Pressure to students.
  • Achieving global standards in education.

History of National Education Policy

In 1968 Under Indira Gandhi govt first national education policy is established. Again in 1986 Under Rajiv Gandhi govt the second nep is established. Later in 1992, Because this is quietly modified in P.V. NARASIMHA RAO Govt. This policy is continued till now. So After 3 decades, the new policy came in.

Constitution had the Right to Education. Free and compulsory education for children age 6-14 years. So it includes key points like Reservation, quota, FDI, and defense, and so on. 2014 BJP Manifesto Of Ministry of Human resources management development (MHRD). Smriti Irani made a new committee for the education department.

The committee chairman is TSR Subramaniyam. But the Committee prepared the draft NEP. And so submitted its report to the Ministry on 31.05.2019. The draft NEP is based on the foundational pillars of access, affordability, equity, quality, and accountability.

Key Points of education policy 2020

No language Barrier:

Students can able to learn subjects in their mother tongue, regional language, and native language. There is no specific language to be taught. It is not compulsory to teach native. But can find a path with the native language. Most of the govt schools in India are following.

10+2 system is replaced by 5+3+3+4

The new curriculum structure is designed as 5+3+3+4 instead of the current 10+2 system. It corresponds to 3-8,8-11,11-14,15-18 ages respectively.

  • Foundational stage: This stage includes 5 years. In which 3 years is pre-schooling/Anganwadi and class 1 and 2. Students can able to learn multilevel. So activity/play learning is highly encouraged.
  • Preparatory stage: This stage includes 3 years. Which comes under class 3-5 age 8-11. Students are able to learn play, discovery, activity, and interactive classroom training.
  • Middle stage: this also includes 3 years. Which comes classes 6-7 age 12-14. Experimental learning in science, arts humanities, social science, and also arts.
  • Secondary stage: This is from 9-12 classes and ages 14-18. Multidisciplinary, student’s choice of interest is trained.

Anytime Exit Process.

One can quit the 3 or 4-year degree. Even after quitting they are provided with a certificate. A diploma certificate is provided if we continue to 2 years. The degree is provided for 3 years. Ph.D. is provided for 4 years. In these, we can select 1 or 2 years.

Multiple entries and exit points are available. It means you can study both arts and humanities at a time. Digital marks are provided as the academic bank of credit. These marks are further added to other courses. The makeover of the report card.

Encouraging Vocational education

From class 6 vocational education is focused. Our country is now suffering from poverty and also unemployment. To overcome these problems internships are offered to students.

emphasis on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. academic streams, extracurricular, curricular, vocational streams in school. So that students can focus on their skills. coding is also trained in class 6. Every child should at least study one vocational subject.

Pattern Of Board Exams.

Earlier exams were held once in a year. Now exams are to be held twice in the year. Practical knowledge is also highly focused. Previous exams are just theoretically based. But now exams are focussed on theoretical and practical. There is a chance of credit transfer. In order to reduce the stress and also the risk of the exam. The policy is offering two types of exams objective and also descriptive.

Teacher Qualification.

The policy proposes the four years integrated BA degree. That would be the minimum qualification required to become a teacher by 2030. Also, two year BEd is also considered with specialized subjects.

Report Cards

360-degree holistic report cards will include self-assessment. PARAKH(Performance, Assessment, Review, and analysis of knowledge for Holistic Development). A new assessment center is set up as a standard-setting body. The single regulator is setup excluding legal and medical fields.

Bagless Period

Many students are carrying some kgs of weight in their bags. Here comes the time to keep a full stop to this. Because children are mostly affected by this weight and feel stressed. Because of a 10 day intern with vocational experts.

Objectives of education policy 2020

  • MHRD is now renamed as the ministry of education.
  • GDP Investment in education is now increased from 1.6% to 6%
  • The gross enrollment ratio to be increased by 50% by 2035.
  • Higher education commission of India(HECI) Excluding law and medical.
  • Multidisciplinary Education and research university.

Conclusion:

In my point of view, the decision taken by the government is 100% Right. Because at earlier age children are going to explore and ready for the world. the shift towards the scientific approach of education. because it is the way for foreign universities to set up universities in India.Increased GDP investment because of high standard education. Improving accountability in education. So education has Technology inserted in. And but implementation takes a long time because 100% execution is not possible.

  • It Improves the QUALITY and also practical knowledge of education.
  • Students are able to learn coding in class 6 and also explores one’s interest.
  • Mother Tongue is the medium of instruction.
  • The report card will be comprehensive based on skills and also abilities.
  • The flexibility of subjects and also professional courses are available.
  • Single regulator body for higher education and also support to disabled children.
  • Taking Digital to Rural Areas and E-courses.
  • Rote learning is no more accepted!!
